Today is the 157th anniversary of one of the most famous speeches ever given -- the Gettysburg Address. Did you know? I had forgotten all about it! The opening words, "four score and seven years ago, our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal" … Wow! Just think about the speech and what it means, from so long ago. The words "the world will little note nor long remember what we say here" are also often quoted because of the irony of the fact that it is one of the most remembered and quoted speeches of all time. It is one of the very first speeches I memorized, as did my kids.
This speech gave renewed strength to the country by redefining what a nation should be. Is there a speech that has great meaning to you, even if it wasn't famous?
Always and forever, there must be a flower, to color our day. @alwaysaflower
And just like that, these words are over. Come back tomorrow and we'll do it again. Thank you for visiting my post 💖 Don't ever forget what a wonderful world we live in, people. Some days, it is not as easy to see, just how wonderful it really is. Kindness counts. Wherever you go, whatever you do*
Great speech, Abraham Lincoln was a wise man. 2 minutes of performance and such an effect. I think America needs a new speech like this now. Not the easiest times.
