A Beautiful Sunday for All

The color was strange this year, some never making it, but, turning brown and falling. This particular spot is a place where I can close my eye and smell the autumn in the air today or any day in the Autumn. Yesterday was hot and humid, but, today? It gave me what I came for. The color. The smell. A piece of the season. It does not disappoint.

The enigmatic peak of the colorful glory in the Shenandoah National Park has come - and some of it is already gone. Some have faded or taken to blowing the way of the wind, gently cascading on the mountaintops, but, it was still worthy of another look-see. Soon, we will hear old winter's song, but, just for the moment, the hills are alive with color.

Then some of the leaves did the needful and gave off a brilliant shade of beautiful as their leaves were backlit by the afternoon sun.

It's raining sunshine on this beautiful Autumn moment, the day. I was born and raised in New England and one of the things I have come to love about this area is that Autumn lasts much longer. The color comes in layers as the season progresses, sneaking up on you until one day, you are surrounded in a crescendo of color.

I can see the leaves blowing to the ground, reminding me that Mother Nature’s cycles are mirrored in our lives. I have said this before because I really do believe it to be true. Autumn is a time for letting go. Releasing all those things that have been a burden.
