Taking the good out of the bad
So yesterday was my first day back to work after my accident. I went from taking about 800 steps a day while I was recovering to over 16,000 steps yesterday. Saying that I was in a little bit of pain by the end of the day is an understatement.
My wife works with me and there are also quite a bit of changes that we have been expecting. They are getting rid of some of the management positions and trying to restructure things, and over the past few weeks, it was looking like my wife and I were going to be getting one of the new management positions.
Well the good news is that my wife was offered one of the positions yesterday and it came with a pretty decent bonus and increase in pay. Unfortunately, I was not offered one of the positions, but moved to a different department. At first, I was a bit upset about the whole thing, but my new position still came with a small increase in pay, but it also came with A LOT less responsibility on my part, which is probably what I need right now.
With the holidays coming up, I don't mind taking a step back and letting someone else get yelled at for a while. So today, I have just been relaxing and resting my leg so that hopefully tomorrow when I go back to work it doesn't hurt as much.
It has been a nice day to sit back and reflect on how things are going and remember that even if things don't work out the way that you thought they were going to, that there is still some good in it. Things could be a lot worse and I am just glad that my wife and I are still employed. There are a lot of people all over the world that have been affected by this whole pandemic, but we have not really felt the effects that others have.
So when things seem to not go your way, just remember to take a step back and smell the flowers. Things could be a lot worse.
