I Just Created My First NFT Piece of Artwork! Here's How I Did It!

It was actually incredibly simple.

I have been hearing so much about NFTs lately, and as an artist who loves creating freehand drawings, I finally bit the bullet tonight and created my first one on Rarible!

A NFT is a Non-Fungible-Token, meaning each one is the only one of its kind! It can't be replaced with another token. This creates true scarcity for pieces of artwork and collectibles.

I decided to upload my drawing 'Ancient Tetrahedron', one of my favorites that I created this summer.

There are several NFT marketplaces I had found, but I decided to create mine on Rarible, as I loved their user interface and the NFT creation seemed simple enough.

To Get Started:

Navigate to https://app.rarible.com/

You'll see the Explore page to see available NFTs. Very nice layout right?

Next we'll navigate to "Create Collectible' in the upper right hand corner.

On the next screen, you'll be able to enter in the Name, Description, and Price for your NFT. You also can add in royalties, meaning you'll get a percentage of every future sale that's made of your artwork.

Once you've uploaded and filled out the info, click Create on the bottom, and you'll be navigated to connect your ETH wallet (I used Metamask).

Here you'll have to approve a transaction and then Mint your token, both of which cost some ETH. Between my two transaction, I ended up paying $6.34 worth of ETH (gas prices actually cost me less than what showed below)

Follow the instructions on your wallet and confirm the two transactions, then click Sign sell order as the final step.

Sign it and voila! Your NFT has been created!

I see an incredible amount of potential with NFTs. As an artist and musician, I've always sought more ways to diversify my creations. Songs make sense since streaming music has come to the music world, but art has still been an extremely physical and in person product. I'm so glad to have opened this door and stepped into the world of NFTs!

Thanks for viewing!
