If you are in a hurry, what are you doing in Datça?...

...that´s the slogan of the turkish peninsula located in the Aegean Sea and it already tells a lot about that small tourist destination.

We´ve been there and can confirm that the slogan fits quite good, as it is very relaxed and stress free here on that peninsula. Furthermore, Datça is known for it´s beautiful nature and beaches and of course the flowering of the almond trees around march.

Since we love to have dogs around us we were quite happy with the two Hotel dogs Melek and Gümüş

Eski Datça

But let´s start with the beautiful town of Eski Datça, the old Datça with it´s beautiful stone houses. Even our Hotel here was built that way. I loved our hotel, everything was made with natural materials, only stones, wood and metals.

If you love the look of that hotel already, have a look at the rest of that small, old town, the former capital of the peninsula. Of course most of the houses here are renovated and no longer in its original condition, but that does not do a harm to it. It just looks beautiful and after strolling through these streets for about 1 hour you already feel pretty relaxed.

There are lots of cafes, bars and shops to buy souvenirs.

The doors of all these little stone houses are a different thing, that´s why I will make a separate post about it. No door looks like the other.

The Beaches and the Landscape

The beaches and landscapes are no less spectacular, in fact they´re way better I would have expected them. Crystal clear water, beautiful beaches, although some of them are pebble beach and no sand. Another point that makes it pretty attractive especially at this time of the year is the fact that the water still had around 24 degree.

Due to the winds on that Peninsula it also is a well known spot for wind and kitesurfers. For me the only reason to not move to there would be the missing waves. No waves, no surf for me. :)

The Food

Last but not least...the food is amazing. I love turkish food, it´s that kind of food that you can easily eat too much of.

No matter if it is the traditional turkish breakfast called Serpme, a classsic Mezze Night which is similar to the spanish tapas or just some good fresh seafood, it won´t disappoint you.

And of course Mokka and Baklava :)
