We all know that the best gems in the world are from the island of Ceylon or Sri Lanka. I'm going to tell about a special gem found in Sri Lanka. It's called the ' Blue Giant of the Orient'. This gem was found in year 1907 near Rathnapura area. It's a very large-scale blue sapphire of around 480 carat. It was previously owned by an anonymous American person and finally, it was purchased by a British buyer for 1 million USD. This gem was hidden from the public for over 100 years and came to the auction in 2004. Again the stone has not been shown to the public until now.
