History

The Bagore ki Haveli is a Royal Mansion built by the Lake Pichola in the City of Udaipur. The term "Haveli" means Mansion in Hindi. The Mansion was built by Shri Amarchand Bedwas, who was the Prime Minister of the Mewar during the reign of His Highness Maharana Pratap Singh II between the years 1751-1758AD. It was built through the reign of four Mewari Rulers.

After the Death of Amarchand, The Royal family took custody of the Mansion until the year of 1947 after which the Indian Government possession of this property and they converted it took rest homes for employees. Like most of the government buildings in India, This one also started deteriorating and lacked maintenance.

It was only in 1986, The government of India handed the mansion to west zone cultural center.
It was west zone cultural that took it upon them to restore this Haveli and turned it to a Museum

Present Day

Today, The Museum has a wide range of artifact of the Maharanas, from the clothes worn by the queen to the weapons of these Maharanas.
You just have to name anything Royal and they have it!

Like the Movie, Night in the Museum, Even this Museum feels more alive at night as they have the Rajasthani Cultural Shows, Where we get a taste of what Mewari Folk Music and Dance.
Trust me,The Puppet Dance was a the Highlight for me.

If you're someone who doesn't have the time to do both day and night visit, then I would recommend you to prioritize the night one as its really unique and colorfull.
