Always Google!

Honestly, I had no fucking clue of what this large structure was until five mins back. Till then I thought it was a stupa. I pretty much wanted to write this blog thinking that it was stupa, but then something within me prompted to google search and find out what this is. You know, it would be sad if I wrote about the Tower of Paris while I posted an Image of the Taj Mahal. You dont want to be in that situation right? So I searched for a few mins and learnt that these were granaries or large place to store grains used by the the Ancient Chalukyans. Phew! Thank god i dint write about the stupas.

I`found this structure on the way while i hiked to the Melagatti Shivalaya Temple in Badami. I pretty much was in all alone and without a guide. I did meet couple of locals on the way but they were as clueless of what this was as myself. We(clueless locals and I) entered through the path next to granary. It was Huge, Ancient and pretty badly maintained. While I visited there was absolute nobody in that place which was strange since it was a UNESCO site. It had grass growing on them but it was awesome looking structure nevertheless. While capturing this Image I wanted to show the viewers the scale of this sturucture. Hence, I shot it while i saw couple people coming in.
