I remembered when my younger sister was narrating her experience with some so called police, I couldn't imagine the kind of trauma she passed through.
The Uber conveying her and her friends was stopped, even after presenting their school I.Ds, they were taken to the police station because they were not able to pay the amount they requested or thereabout, they were locked up in a smelling, mosquito infested cell with other individuals like them overnight. They were not released until someone came to the police station the next morning to pay a huge sum of money.
I can't even explain in details all she narrated but it was really awful.
I've also had to witness their unscrupulous behaviour while travelling down from Ijebu to Ikorodu, they harass almost every young adult they encounter.
Lots of lives has been lost, several people are in debt, some are even in a cell without anyone knowing they are there, hoping a miracle will bring them out. It's time to put an end to this brutality.
