The name of the great freedom fighter of India Chandrashekhar Azad is taken in the bravest revolutionary. To avenge Lal Lajpat Rai, he along with Bhagat Singh shot dead a British officer in Lahore.Chandrashekhar Azad is also known for the reorganization of Hindustan Republican Association. Initially, he was very much influenced by Gandhiji but after the non-cooperation movement he joined the Garam Dal.
Chandrashekhar Azad was born on 23 July 1906 in a Brahmin family in Bhabra village (now Chandrashekhar Azadnagar) (present-day Alirajpur district).[3][4] His ancestors were from village Badarka in present-day Unnao district (Baiswara). Azad's father, Pandit Sitaram Tiwari, left his ancestral residence Badarka during the famine and worked in Alirajpur princely state of Madhya Pradesh for the first few days and then settled in Bhabra village. It was here that the childhood of the child Chandrashekhar was spent. His mother's name was Jagrani Devi. Azad's early life was spent in the village of Bhabra, located in a tribal-dominated area, so as a child, Azad played a lot of bow and arrow with the Bhil boys. In this way he had learned shooting in his childhood.
Chandrashekhar Azad made Jhansi his stronghold for a fixed time. He used to shoot with his companions in the forests of Orchha, fifteen kilometers from Jhansi. Being a perfect shooter, Chandrashekhar Azad used to train other revolutionaries as well as teach children under the pseudonym of Pandit Harishankar Brahmachari. He became very popular among the local people by his pseudonym in the village of Dhimarpur. While living in Jhansi, Chandrashekhar Azad had also learned to drive.
