This mental illness can be triggered by so many factors, that's why taking care of our mental health is very necessary and important. A depressed person is drained, he has an unstable state of mind, feelings of hopelessness, sadness and a lost of interest in activities, even activities that gets him motivated in a every day life.

According to findings , about 280,000,000 people in the world are depressed and a lot of them eventually die because of it. This is a result of going through tough times and challenges which sometimes may be unbearable for such person/persons. Issues such as traumatic events, unemployment or life threatening diseases or illness can result in depression.

Depression can manifest in states listed below;

1 major depression(a constant state of sadness)

2 persistent depressive disorder(dysthymia)

3 bipolar disorder (can result in mood swing)

4 postpartum disorder (associated pregnancy and child birth)

5 psychotic disorder (delusions, hallucinations)

6 major depressive disorder with seasonal patterns (mainly experienced by people who live in areas of reduced sunlight)

Even a feeling of self worthlessness can trigger the illness called depression. People who compare themselves to others become depressed when they feel unmatched or unequal with the other person.

Some people feel unfulfilled because of what others have achieved, peer pressure is a thing that must be avoided by anyone who wants to do away with depression. Truly every human wants to become better and wants to do great, but you don't have to become or aspire for what others have or who they are, else your whole being gets into competition throughout life.

Normally, as humans, there is an appetite for greatness, but the first step to conquering competitions with our fellow humans is to be contented.

Rather than counting your losses, why not be grateful for your gains? Everyone is living good, but the angle through which you see life is important.

Some of the solutions to depression includes,
psychotherapy, support from loved ones and family members, drug treatment as the doctor may prescribe.

One thing is always necessary to remember as a human being, you have the power to control your mind, you can chose to be happy regardless of what happens to you.
