【from Tokyo】Passenger planes fly over central Tokyo, and the third wave of infection

Since March 2020, the "new flight route" of Haneda Airport, which is the international airport of Tokyo, has been put into practice. This is to increase the number of departures and arrivals in response to the increase in the number of foreign tourists visiting Japan. The route is bold, passing over central Tokyo.

Passenger planes fly over central Tokyo for about 3 hours from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on a southerly windy day. Here in the sky above Shinjuku, the altitude is said to be about 1000m. Certainly the distance from the ground is very close. I can also see the plane from my window at home. It's useful when you're trying to take a picture, as you'll hear a loud noise when you're outside and when the plane is approaching.

This new route took place at the worst of a global pandemic. The next wave of infection came when the pandemic was suppressed and customers might finally return.

Vaccine development is progressing, and the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, which have been postponed to next year, are expected to be held. However, the third wave of infection is occurring in front of us. I was forced to cancel the trip I had booked using a government-led travel campaign.

When I see the plane flying, I'm worried that the passengers may not be on board after a series of cancellations. Can the spread of infection really be stopped in the next six months? We will have to wait.
