【from Tokyo】Navigation system malfunction and Tokyo Tower

We are experimenting with various navigation systems when driving. The winner was decided for voice input. Apple has the best performance. Siri listens to Japanese relatively well. Next is Google. We think Yahoo! Japan should work harder. At the bottom is the voice system built into BMW. It seems that they have no intention of dealing with Japanese seriously.

But something strange happens with navigation systems. It goes far beyond the navigator's caution message, "Please follow actual traffic regulations." Navi sometimes recommends us a mysterious route for some reason.

It was the same last night. We were talking and unaware, but suddenly we found that we were being guided in the opposite direction. The road wasn't crowded, so it's not a detour of traffic. Navi also recommended using the highway for only one section.
We stopped navigating.

But thanks to that, I was able to take beautiful pictures from the car window. It would be great if the navigation system measured that much.

Maybe the navi wanted to guide you past beautiful sights😃
Sometimes, I have experienced that some navigation systems switches between "fastest route" and "shortest route" during drive. My TomTom did this often.

Thank you for your nice comment!
We may not have been sure what the navigation is prioritizing.
