Yayoi Kusama's private museum is in Tokyo. It's my pleasure to visit the place. It is a small white building with polka dots printed on its windows, symbolizing Kusama's artwork. There is a reservation system for admission before the pandemic.
Yayoi Kusama is an artist who has fought against madness. The polka dots she draws look pop at first glance, but they aren't. From an early age, she really saw polka dots, and she fought the fear of her disappearing in it. By studying her art professionally, she was able to sublimate her fears into art.
She traveled to the United States in the 1970s and became famous as an avant-garde artist, but was not understood in Japan. Since the beginning of the 2000s, she has become one of the most popular contemporary artists in Japan.
From her work in her Kusama, I strongly feel death and vice versa. My favorite is an art piece that feels eternal when you enter the mirror room.
As the exhibitions are postponed one after another due to the pandemic, the Yayoi Kusama Museum holds regular exhibitions. Visiting there will save me.
