Lo esencial es invisible a los ojos / What is essential is invisible to the eye

Hoy es sabado y pues aprovecho de que mi hijo está descansando para escribir algo que me carga pensativo estos días. He estado sometido a mucho estrés ya que mi trabajo suele ponerme así en ocasiones. Yo trabajo básicamente con reparación y mantenimiento de tecnologías médicas (Equipos Médicos) y aunque es bien remunerado cuando las cosas salen bien, eventualmente las cosas salen mal. Pues estoy en esa racha donde, muchas cosas me están saliendo mal.

Hace unas horas atrás aun pensando en todas las cosas que debo resolver, salí a pasear con mi hijo (que tiene poco mas de 2 añitos). El estaba montado en su triciclo y mientras yo estaba ensimismado en mi cabeza me gritó: ¡papa! y entonces reaccioné y lo miré, su carita de enfado me exigía que le prestara atención por supuesto. Así que, puse el teléfono en modo avión y me enfoqué en jugar con el y dedicarle toda la atención. Me sentí muy bien, y verlo con su hermosa sonrisa me hizo dejar de sentir toda esa tensión y angustia relacionada al trabajo. Le compré una golosina y nos fuimos a casa nuevamente, de pronto mi hijo me abrazo y me dio un beso así sin mas, y sentí una sensación indescriptible.

Recordé esa frase hermosísima del libro de Saint-Exupery : El principíto de :

A veces vamos por la vida de capa caída, deprimidos y quejumbrosos, quizás sea como dice Facundo Cabral en uno de sus poemas:

El amor está por ahí, la felicidad tal vez está en esos detalles que no percibimos por estar metidos de cabeza en los celulares. ¿cuantas veces habremos ignorado a nuestras madres, padres, esposas, hijos por estar distraídos de la vida?

Me toca ser mas atento, y creo que a todos nos toca un poco. Intentar ganarle la batalla a la distracción y seguir disfrutando de las sonrisas que mi hermoso hijo aun tiene para darme. Quizás en mis últimos días sea el momento mas bonito para recordar.

Today is Saturday and I am taking advantage of the fact that my son is resting to write something that has been weighing on my mind these days. I have been under a lot of stress as my job tends to put me like this at times. I basically work with repair and maintenance of medical technologies (Medical Equipment) and although it pays well when things go well, eventually things go wrong. Well I am on that streak where, a lot of things are going wrong for me.

A few hours ago, still thinking about all the things I have to solve, I went for a walk with my son (who is just over 2 years old). He was riding on his tricycle and while I was in my head he shouted at me: daddy! and then I reacted and looked at him, his angry face demanded my attention of course. So, I put the phone on airplane mode and focused on playing with him and giving him my full attention. It felt great, and seeing him with his beautiful smile made me stop feeling all that work-related stress. I bought him a candy and we went home again, suddenly my son hugged me and kissed me just like that, and I felt an indescribable sensation.

I remembered that beautiful phrase from Saint-Exupery's book: The Little Prince :

Sometimes we go through life in the doldrums, depressed and complaining, perhaps as Facundo Cabral says in one of his poems:

How many times have we ignored our mothers, fathers, wives, children because we were distracted from life?

I have to be more attentive, and I think we all have to be a little more attentive. Trying to win the battle against distraction and keep enjoying the smiles that my beautiful son still has to give me. Maybe, in my last days, it will be the most beautiful moment to remember.
