Deforestation has profound impacts on the environment, which disrupt the ecosystems and biodiversity, hence one of the of the primary consequences is the loss of habitat for countless species, which tend to lead to a decline in biodiversity where forests are home to over 80% of terrestrial species where destruction results in displacement and extinction for many animals and plants with the space.
Moreover, deforestation contributes a lot that is patterning to climate change where trees absorb that of the carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas, from the atmosphere, in some cases when forests are cleared, the carbon sink are removed, and also carbon stored in trees are also released back into the atmosphere, causing global warming and this process increases the rate of climate change, which causes severe weather season and rising in the global temperatures.
Soil erosion is another serious issue stemming caused by the deforestation where the trees and their root systems is necessary over stabilizing soil, hence without them, soil is more likely to experience erosion by wind and water, which causes the degradation of arable land and negatively affects over agricultural productivity which disrupts the water cycle and with trees contribute to the regulation of the water cycle facilitate the return of water vapor to the atmosphere which altered precipitation patterns that lead to water shortages in some region.
