It has been maybe more than a decade really ever since I fixed myself with just an instant coffee let alone to brew it for my consumption. It is because of my mobility issues. Until now with an improvement with my walking, I am still preferring my mother to get me some coffee or any beverages for that matter in the fear that I might drop the cup, mug, or whatever vessel that I would pick-up from the house kitchen and back to my room. As of this writing I wanted to get a cup of coffee so that my mind would get stimulated more and give me ideas what to write about. Nowadays even with a three times weekly dialysis, I cannot consume more than coffee that I wanted although I am not addicted to it anymore. So more often than not I will just drink my brewed coffee in the morning and that's it unless I would eat some snacks in the afternoon like biscuits whenever I feel like it. Drinking too much coffee also would disrupt my sleeping habits because I often would like to just sleep during the day and even after my late lunch so that I can escape the heat of the day and start my day past 12:00 am respectively and I do not want coffee to affect my sleep hours.
As you can see I do not want to spend my day awake because noises are bothering me and there isn't anything much physical that I can do around the house. I am still waiting for more improvements in my bones particularly so that I can be able to use my body to help with the cooking perhaps and also be more independent with what physical that I wanted to do without bothering my parents. Anyway I was addicted to coffee before, without it I would not feel rather "awake" and I used it extensively during my studies during my High school and even before I went to high school, coffee was my number one beverage which is why I got addicted in the first place. For studying really, coffee does help a lot because it is a central nervous stimulant and it makes the brain process things in a much faster rate compared to not taking any coffee or mild stimulant at all. My addiction to coffee is so great that I just struggled to quit it so that I cannot be too dependent on it because it causes me headaches whenever the caffeine level in my body becomes low.
It is just in my later years that I finally freed myself from caffeine addiction and what I meant by that is I can last the day or weeks without longing for a cup of coffee which served me good for my sleep quality and to not get headaches if my body's caffeine level gets low. My caffeine addiction got fixed but I still drink coffee in the morning and more often when I want to force myself to eat to put some nutrition in my body and I use either coffee or canned pineapple juice to help me swallow my food. I can't seem to enjoy my food anymore and I guess that I can never get back my appetite maybe because of my time for being a dialysis patient where too much unpleasant and unknown substances that already accumulated which is are already affecting my basic body senses like hunger and the ability to enjoy foods. But anyway, I would ask my mother sometimes to give me some decaffeinated coffee if I would be planning to sleep earlier after taking my late lunch because I wanted to get some rest for my body and brain so that I can continue to write a few hours after midnight.
Being a night owl myself gives me the benefit of peace and quiet, and I needed some silence because it is really hard to write with so many distractions like the passing of a motor vehicle, the noise coming from people walking-by, the loud streaking bark from our guard dog just irritates me. Heck maybe you can put me in isolation (but with a little white noise to help me with my tinnitus) and I might be okay with that. The silence coming from the night is really peaceful because the difference was there are no birds chirping but if you have a neighbor with a fighting rooster then it really will make your nights torturous. That is why I am not preferring to live in a neighborhood with fighting cocks because these creatures seems to not sleep and would continue to crow all day and all night long. Some say that the rooster will help you to wake you up in the morning, it is not true because they are crowing non-stop and just be better prepared when you plan to live near them because otherwise they will ruin your sleep all night long.
I am writing this post without some caffeine in my system, the last mug of brewed coffee that I drink was about 21 hours ago at the moment of this writing and in fact I still wanted to write but I can feel some sleepiness which I do not want to do right now. Had I drank some coffee than I could be doing a much easier job because for now what helps me in writing is the silence of the night (or dawn). Although I still have some caffeine pills that I am not taking anymore that I can use right now, I will just wait for my mother to ask me if I wanted to eat my breakfast already and along with my breakfast is a mug of brewed coffee. That will be my coffee this day until tomorrow unless again, if I wanted to eat some extra snacks or food later in the day. I would seldom eat after my breakfast because I always wanted to build a desire to eat for my second and last meal of the day.
By the way, I am recommending to consume brewed coffee and not those 3 in 1 where the manufacturer had added artificial sweeteners especially phosphates that would harm the bones particularly those that drinks it on a regular basis and people like me who watches out their blood phosphorus levels. The non-dairy creamers in particular is very high on phosphates and it is not a good thing to consume if you wanted to have stronger bones especially for the elderly where their bones continue to deteriorate over time because of the normal but preventable bone loss that they are susceptible in developing where most of them are just confined in a place where they cannot get some rays of the Sun to give them some good form of vitamin D. The elderly also must take supplements like calcium, in-fact all of us must take that supplement as well so that we would be more prepared when we get old, then our bones would not get so fragile like what is happening to most elderly people where a slip would mean a catastrophe already.
But on a side note, coffee is believed to be one cause of bone weakness which is something that we should consider because as always, there are some bad or side effects of most things. The one thing that we should always remember when it comes to using coffee for whatever use and benefits that it gives us is to consume it moderately but not misuse it because otherwise we will experience the bad effects in our body and thereby not getting the benefits which what we truly wanted in the healthier side. That is why if we would consume a cup or two a day it will be beneficial for us medically like supporting our liver's function and making our day productive with some special effect like making us cheery by uplifting our moods which is also one of the good effects of coffee that I like. However if we over-consume coffee, we can experience stomach hyperacidity and disturbed sleep at night or if we wanted an afternoon siesta to help us get some extra energy for the work that we are doing in a particular day for that matter, then an overuse of coffee will for certain gives us some level of difficulty in that regard.
I wouldn't recommend trying other psychoactive drugs other than the caffeine from brewed coffee because it is a whole lot of topic to discuss where it can lead to either addiction or just wasting your money for a goal to just make you a little happy and additional mental stimulation for cognitive performances like learning and writing for example because a cup of coffee is good enough for the job. I am just highlighting that coffee has a great benefit not only for its stimulating effect to the brain to make us more attentive, productive, and creative among other things plus its mood enhancing effect on the positive side but coffee also has a medicinal effect on our liver. Other stimulants of the elicit kind are meant for abusing which only will give you a high feeling but will leave you down crashing to your own and other people's demise in the end and that is what we want to avoid. In conclusion, coffee is God's gift to us, to use it in order to help our lives, if we abuse it then it really doesn't give us a good feeling anyway which is a factor to control a heavy consumption of it otherwise out hearts will not be happy, But if we are just dinking coffee in the right amounts for its good effects on our day to day purposes, then we can be assured of a better result each and everytime.
