Lata Mangeshkar is a voice that has represented Indian women for many decades. It was two years ago on this day that she left us. She was the Nightingale, the Kokila, Saraswati, Golden voice and so much more and it was a moment of peace, and joy whenever she sang. She specialized in Ghazals, bhajans, sad songs, romances and meaningful songs. There were great musical associations with Madan Mohan, Naushaad, Laxmikant Pyarelal and many other singers. She was a companion of Rafi, Kishor, Mukesh, and many others also. We remember her and she was a companion of many Indians as there was a song for virtually every occasion.
