Today I will talk about one of the historical temples of India which is called Virupaksha Temple. The temple is found in Hampi, Karnataka. The name of this temple is included within the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The temple is dedicated to Lord Virupaksha and his wife Goddess Pampa. Virupaksha is a form of Shiva. Ranga Mandapam), where there is a huge room with three rooms and pillars. Tourists visiting the Virupaksha temple will see that the temple dates back to the 7th century and the carvings above it date back to the 9th or 11th century. It is said that Lord Vishnu considered this place too big for his stay and returned to his home. The temple is located on the banks of the Tungabhadra River in Hampi, the capital of the Vijayanagara Empire. The temple dates to the seventh century and the carvings above it date to the ninth or eleventh century. Initially, a few idols were placed in the Birupaksha temple, but over time the temple was transformed into a huge building. Gopuda and Rang Mandapam were built by Krishnadevara in 1509 AD.
