I hope all are doing great I would like to share a piece of information with you all,
The year 2023 is declared as “INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF MILLETS” in order to address and spread awareness about the superfood “Millets”
Millets are also know as nutri-cereals which includes Sorghum (Jowar), Pearl Millet (Bajra), Finger Millet (Ragi/Mandua) & Minor Millets namely; Foxtail Millet (Kangani/Kakun), Proso Millet (Cheena), Kodo Millet (Kodo), Barnyard Millet (Sawa/Sanwa/ Jhangora), Little Millet (Kutki) and two Pseudo -millets that is Buckwheat (Kuttu) and Amaranthus (Chaulai).
Millets are have a lots of health benefits,
• They have low glycemic index hence, helps to control blood glucose levels
• High in fiber content, good for gut
• Have high protein content than cereals
• Rich in minerals, antioxidants and vitamins
• Easy to digest
• Aids weight loss etc….
Apart from this Millet are highly resistance to environment condition and are easy to cultivate throughout the year. I don’t know why people are so obsessed with oats nowadays even though we have so many nutri- cereals available locally. I don't say that oats are bad but there are many traditionally available crops in India which are inexpensive and nutritional loaded...
there was a national workshop at Bangalore, where the students prepared lots of delicious and healthy recipe out of millets.
