Was Our Country Always known as India...?

We all know that we live in a country named as India. But do we know why our country being named as India...?

What is the reason behind this name and was this the name of our country from the very beginning...?

India is a country that has many religions , festivals , and cultures holding with it. So It is indeed a special thing about our country.
There are so many languages that are being spoken here and the list is very long.

On top of these good things India was not also India and it was known with different identities like Aryavatra , Hodu , Nabhivarsha , Jambudvipa and many names were there from the ancient time.

Hodu is the name that is being taken from the Bible Book of Hebrew where India is referred as Hodu.

But what we are familiar with are the names like Hindustan , Bharat and India. So how do these names originated and what were the reasons behind these names.

The Official Name India is derived from the river name indus where the people from past use to live. Also this Indus River was taken from a Sanskrit word , "SINDHU" that refers to Indus River from where the name India has came.

Bharat was the name that came into existence on 26th January 1950 when the constitution of India came to existence.
It was then decided that Bharat will be the official name of the Republic.

This name Bharat is also derived from the Sanskrit word , "BHARATA" that means to cherish. It is not limited to this but In the Ancient Hindu Puranas The first conqueror of the entire Indian subcontinent and the Republic of India was Emperor Bharata. He is was the founder of famous Bharata dynasty.

Another name that is known by almost everyone is Hindustan. Though It is not the official name anymore but is used by many people till date. There is a big history behind this name as well .

Hind is the word that is equivalent to Iraniah word , "Sindh" that refers to the Indo aryans where as stan in persian language means land or country.

So Hind and Stan were combined together to call our country Hindustan.

But what was the logic behind adding hind , the reason is that during the british rule north and north-west subcontinents of India were refered as Hind. So together all these reasons gave the name Hindustan to our country.
