For a quite long time , i think for more than a year there was a penalty on not wearing mask when you are out of your home. Be it any place if you are found without mask you have to pay fine of 2000 Indian national rupees.
The thing that was frustrating was that people who were traveling alone in their own car were also fined if they did not wear mask.
There was no logic behind this as the person is traveling alone and that too in his/her personal car. So what was the point of taking fine for traveling alone. Anyways i was happy to read an article today by one of the news channel.
In the article it was written that there will be no penalty to the people without mask traveling in their personal vehicles. Also the fine has been reduced to 500 INR which was earlier 2000 INR.
Make sure to wear the mask in public places because the law for that is still same and yes even the new change will be implemented from 28th february so keep that in mind.

Just like you pointed out, asking people to wear masks when they are alone in their car is the same as asking them to wear it even when they are alone at home.

you got a fine for not wearing your mask sat alone in your car, my god! we got off really lightly here even in shopping centres all people have to do is say exempt and thats it no questions.
