An accident took place on Diamond Harbour Road in Kolkata on Friday afternoon. The death of an elderly pedestrian was imminent as the truck lost control of the vehicle.
The incident took place on the road near 3no bus stand near Thakurpukur police station in Diamond Harbour. The truck lost control that afternoon and hit three autos and two pedestrians over the age of 60-70 while standing on the road.
According to Kolkata News, a 60-year-old man died shortly after being taken to hospital. He is said to have been a resident of the local Biswaspara.
Police sources also said that a violin truck was passing on Diamond Harbour Road at noon on the day of the incident but the truck suddenly lost control and hit three cars parked on the side of the road.
The truck was hit by a car and 3 autos were broken and crushed. And a local resident named Nimaibabu was passing by those cars, so the accident happened suddenly.
He was reportedly injured in the accident. Another man on the street rushed the injured driver to a nursing home.
There they were first treated at a nursing home and then the two auto drivers were released. But the other 3 were shifted to SSKM Hospital as their condition was critical.
Among the three were an auto driver and a pedestrian. Doctors pronounced one of the elderly men dead after he was taken to SSKM Hospital. It is learned that the police later arrested the truck driver and brought him to the police station.
