Jolly Buoy Island is a beautiful small island in the southern Andamans. The island is currently a protected area under the Mahatma Gandhi National Park, a marine sanctuary. The location and scenery of the island is very beautiful.
The color of the sea water is greenish blue or turquoise and the beach is white sand. The sea water near Jolly Boy beach has a very shallow and clear bottom. Lots of corals are found in this area. Many tourists do different types of water sports here. Such as Snorkeling, Scuba Diving, etc.
Interestingly, the island is densely forested, but there are no date or coconut trees. Many trek small jungles on this small island with the help of guides. No one is allowed to go here with anything that could affect biodiversity, such as plastic or anything like that. You must keep this in mind when you go.

How to go and the right time
First you have to go from Port Blair to Wandoor Beach in South Andaman. The distance is about 25-30km. There are private taxis and public transport from Port Blair to Wandur Beach. You can even go by two wheeler. According to the data in 2019, the fare of AC bus was 50 rupees and non-AC 30 rupees. You will have to board a ferry service from Wandur Beach to Jolly Boy Island.
Ferry Timings Start: 09:00 am
Ferry Cost: ₹ 850 / - (Rate as per 2019)
Entry Ticket: ₹ 50 / - for Indians and ₹ 500 / - for foreigners.

This island however cannot be visited all the time of the year. Because it is closed to the island for six months of the year for coral conservation. Usually open from November to April. Also keep in mind that Jolly Boy Island is closed every Monday.
