This cute creature, unfortunately, may soon disappear from the face of our planet. The thing is that tree abronia (lat. Abronia graminea) lives in the mountain pine-oak forests of Mexico, of which there are not so many left. Every year more and more territories are cleared for agricultural land, leaving the unfortunate inhabitants of these places without a home.
Today, the range of woody abronia consists of several separate parts, lost in the eastern regions of the state of Puebla and in the center of the state of Verascus. As a rule, it can be found at an altitude of 1.3 to 2.7 thousand meters above sea level. However, it is not at all easy to see this lizard: not only does the abronia dislike uninvited guests, trying to hide in the nearest shelter, but nature also took care of its disguise.
The body color of wood abronia varies from emerald green to brownish, depending on the surrounding area. Around each eye is a large yellow ring. The belly of the lizard is creamy white. The body length of adults, together with the tail, can reach 26 cm. At the same time, the tail itself accounts for more than half of this figure (about 16 cm).
