Azawakh is an ancient and rare breed of dog that originated in the Sahara desert, namely in the Sahel region. In this region there is the Azawakh Valley - in fact, various legends and beliefs associate the breed with it. In fact, no one can say exactly when exactly this breed appeared in the endless sands of the Sahara Desert, however, nomadic tribes endow it with a very long history.
Over a long period of their evolution, the Azawakh breed has developed amazing qualities that are directly related to their physique. This is a very thin skin, on which there is practically no wool, but a lot of blood vessels - for better cooling (by the way, the Azawakh can tolerate very strong heat). Muscles are flat, with excellent drawing. The head is narrow and long, the limbs are long. The coat is short.
Dogs perceive strangers extremely distrustfully and closed, they perform excellent watchdog functions (they have a very developed sense of their own territory), although in order to deter a robber, a more powerful breed may be needed. Children and other pets perceive normally. It has a high level of energy, needs long walks and is able to develop tremendous speed when running, compressing itself like a spring.
