The American Hairless Terrier is a breed that originates from dogs called Feistes. The Feist is a mixed breed brought to the United States at the dawn of the formation of this country - in the 18th century. One hundred years later, Feist was chosen as the basis for the creation of the so-called Rat Terriers - dogs of this type were in great demand in farms, warehouses and shops throughout the country.

In 1998, the breed was recognized as the American Hairless Terrier (ANT) by the American Rare Breeds Association and the National Rat Terrier Club. In 1999 this breed was recognized by the United Kennel Club as the Rat Terrier, Hairless variety.

As you understand, in individuals that do not have a coat of hair, there is no need for combing. Those individuals that have short hair need a maximum of combing once a week. You need to bathe the dog at least once a week, choosing a shampoo with the right pH. The nails are trimmed about 3 times a month, the ears are cleaned 2-3 times a week, the eyes are cleaned daily. By the way, the breed does not have sweat glands on the skin.
