📷 Wavy kalao and its Abyssinian neighbor

Greeting to all Blurtorians! I've known this handsome kalao for a long time. I have been visiting him in our Safari Park for 5 years. Of course it's growing :- ) A year ago, he was a little smaller and moved more quickly, but I wanted to visit my feathered friend again.

Wavy kalao or rhinoceros birds are revered birds in many places of our planet. So, in the Indian state of Nagaland, the festival of the great Indian rhinoceros is even held annually (in those places, these birds are so called).

The image of rhinoceros birds can also be seen on the flag of the largest Burmese state. In Krasnodar, they live in spacious green enclosures, without fear that someone will want to make a trinket out of their massive beaks.

During our visit, kalao ate a meal, and did not pay much attention to the guests. Despite the fact that the kalao prefer to eat fish, they are not averse to treat themselves to fruit.

Such grapes he at first failed to grasp with his huge beak. They kept slipping out, but I managed to catch an important moment :-)

Rhinoceros birds live in dense impenetrable forests on the Islands of Bali and Borneo. These birds are up to a meter in height.

In males, a small yellow SAC is observed on the goiter, the same as in our friend. The appearance of any danger or the opponent's skin, this bag is able to dangerously swell.

But the sounds they make are loud, something like an aggressive rolling roar. Unaccustomed to it, it even seems that these are not birds talking, but some ferocious predators.

Here, finally, is kalao I was able to grab a naughty grape :-)

The impressive size of the birds does not prevent them from jumping quite deftly from branch to branch and plucking the fruit of trees with their beak.

Watch a little video I made.

In the Safari Park, he and his non-Intrusive neighbor have a huge aviary.

Here's his neighbor. Maybe they found out?

This is the Abyssinian horned crow. The first time I saw him, I was a little scared. Black large eyes, like convex mirrors in which you see your reflection. And on the head is really something in the form of a horn, and it seems that someone sawed it off a little.

These crows are also from the family of rhinoceros birds that live in the North-Eastern and North-Western parts of Africa.

The caretaker said that these horned birds are quite smart and sometimes even try to untie the laces on his sneakers.

Abyssinian crows get along well with wavy kalao. They behave very peacefully until one of them begins to claim the territory of a neighbor :-)

Have a nice evening and see you to new stories about our little brothers!

Thank you for Your attention and visit.

I wish you luck and have a nice day!

Hi, under the mood! Sometimes he hides from people, and sometimes he comes close. This one is very curious, always trying to get my camera :-)
