The skin color of the crabs is dark brown. Occasionally red crabs are also seen. But purple crab?
One such species of purple crab was found in the Philippines in 2012. Discovered by German scientist Hendrik Freitag. The scientific name is 'Insulmon palavanensi'.
Strange micelles of light purple and orange color can be seen on the body of these crabs. They are about one to two inches wide. They are found only on the island of Palawan in the Philippines.
Scientists believe that due to the island's adaptation to the climate, the common species of crabs have evolved to purple. And as a result, they have become more beautiful, to say the least!
