This happened a long time ago. There lived a dog in the forest. He was not too aggressive and really needed company, because we all know very well that dogs are social animals. At the same time, our dog was. quite a practical guy. He understood that he was not the strongest animal in the forest and wanted to have a friend stronger than himself.
First the dog met the fox. What a beautiful animal, the dog thought. His fur burns like fire! Surely he has the same fiery character and endless courage. And the dog invited the fox to live together.
The fox didn't mind. He, too, was looking for his own benefit and hoped that the dog would get a meal for two.
Night has come. The dog and the fox hid in a hole and got ready to sleep until the morning. The stars shone brightly in the black sky, there was such silence around that you could hear a mouse walking by. Hearing the rustling, the dog jumped up and barked loudly.
The fox was very scared. He began to scold the dog and say that if they made noise, the wolf would come and eat them.
Wow, the dog thought, this is probably the strongest wolf in the forest. Perhaps I will be friends with him.
The next morning the dog said goodbye to the fox and went in search of the wolf. The wolf didn't mind the company either. He needed a hunting helper.
Night has come and what do you think! The same story repeated itself as with the fox. The wolf was very frightened by the night barking of the dog. He said that a bear would come and eat them both.
In the morning the dog said goodbye to the wolf and went in search of the bear.
The bear was glad of the company. But he also did not approve of the dog barking at night. What are you doing? - he said, You will attract the attention of the hunter! He will come and kill us! And they will insulate their home with our skins!
Wow! - thought the dog, So who is the strongest in the forest. And although he was scared, he went in search of the hunter.
The hunter was very lonely and also needed company. He happily accepted the dog's offer of friendship and didn't mind at all if the dog barked at night. The hunter understood that the dog’s hearing was much sharper than his own and that the dog, with its barking, warned him of possible danger. They spent days and nights together, wandered through the forest together, whiled away the nights together by the fire. The dog was happy. He felt needed and he himself also needed the person.
Since those distant times, the relationship between man and dog has gone through many tests. The dog remains with the person forever, they are our friends and helpers, comforters and protectors.
