Spot Eyed Hoverflly

in blurtimals •  4 years ago

I found this spot eyed hoverfly (Eristalinus species) around the bush in front of my house resting on the wild grass. I took this hoverfly using a smartphone with an external macro. Hoverflies and also called flower flies belong to the family Syrphidae. This species is frequently seen hovering or nectaring at flowers in which many adults feed mainly on nectar and pollen. The eyed spot eyed hoverly is included in insectivores and prey on aphids, thrips, other plant-sucking insects. However, on the day I found this fascinating species, it was being calm on the grass which gave me no hard time to take shots, even I directed my phone closer, it did not make a move. So here are some pics of spot eyed hoverfly that I photographed two days ago around the grass.

A nice and very interesting publication of everything we can find in a garden, I just make a suggestion, when scientific names are shared, in this case of insects, you must share the link from where you get that information, in other words the reference.
Best regards.

Thanks. Thank again for the suggestion and I will share the link in the next post if it deals with the scientific name. It'll be great if we know the detail of the info about the insect world. Have a nice day @angelica7
