Layers are wonderful birds, i mean birds who can literally reproduce without mating.
Depending on what you want (egg or meat). Layers bird are good producers of egg. But i still love keeping broiler birds for meat than layers for egg, reason being that it takes for time and resources for layers to get to their peak where they'd stay laying, i mean it takes several months, all things being equal.
I've seen layers who just eating, kept on eating and did not lay eggs because of the worm in them.
I remember i kept some then but the output (eggs laid) are not encouraging, should i say they 'under-laid' (thats a new one😉). What they eat compared to how many eggs they laid in a day in a week, it doesnt worth the stress, so i sold them off and gave out some to focus solely on broilers.
