I've replied elsewhere as I also know somebody in Ukraine. They will fight with or without our help. They will die to protect their freedom.

Ukraine has prepared for this since 2014 and Russia has massively underestimated their resolve. Can they win without support from the West? No. Because it's a war. Nobody wins. To think that somebody wins a war is naive. Everybody loses.
