Vor zwei Tagen haben wir uns spontan entschlossen, einen Freund in der ehemaliger Bezirk, in der die Familie meines Mannes einst in Niederösterreich lebte,(etwa 17 km von Wien entfernt) zu besuchen. Es war eine erfrischende Reise, auch nur für einige Stunden dem Stadt-leben zu entfliehen. Wir sind zum 4. Mal wieder unter Lockdown. Wir kamen an den riesigen landwirtschaftlichen Flächen Niederösterreichs vorbei und machten eine Weile Pause, um ein Bild von den riesigen Windturbinen zu machen, die über das gesamte Gebiet verstreut sind. Ich erinnere mich, dass ich auf dem Weg nach Sacramento um meine Cousine zu besuchen, solche Turbinen auf kilometerlangen Hügeln gesehen.

Nachdem wir den Freund getroffen hatten, stoppten wir in einem der Waldgebiete, welche nach dem Aussehen der Bäume leider nicht gut gepflegt wurden. Es gibt viele neue Häuser und ein Teil des ehemals riesigen Waldgebiets schien sich zu verringern. Ich vermute, dass das bewaldete Land in Privatbesitz ist.

Wir gingen in die Gegend und sahen den Status der Bäume, die nicht so gesund waren. Viele Kiefern sind verschwunden und es scheint, dass die Gemeinde nicht befugt ist, den Wald zu säubern ... wir wissen nicht, ob er sich in Privatbesitz befindet. Es ist schade, dass die Wälder jetzt dünner sind und vielleicht die Bäume gefällt werden, um dem Bau von Häusern Platz zu machen.

Jetzt, wo der Frühling gekommen ist, ist wieder Leben da! Die Bäume sind jetzt voller Knospen. Wir haben zierliche Blumen aus dem Boden sprießen sehen und die Einheimischen haben sich Zeit genommen, um mit ihren Hunden spazieren zu gehen. Obwohl dies nicht der typische Wald in Österreich ist, lebt dieses Gebiet wieder. Ich hoffe, die Stadtbewohner würden sich versammeln und freiwillig den Wald sauber machen. Vielleicht ... wer weiß!

Two days ago, we spontaneously decided to visit a friend in the town where my husband´s family once lived in Lower Austria that is about 17 Km from Vienna. It was a refreshing trip to get away from the city life even for just some hours. We are again under Lockdown for the 4th time. Passing by the huge agricultural lands of Niederösterreich (Lower Austria), we stopped by for a while to take a picture of the huge wind turbines scattered all over the area. I remember seeing thousands of such turbines on hills on my way to Sacramento visiting my cousins.

After meeting the friend, we stopped by one of the wooded areas which is sadly not well taken cared of as per the looks of the trees. There are many new houses and part of what used to be a huge wooded area, seemed to diminish. My guess is that the wooded land is owned privately.

We went to the area and saw the status of the trees that were not that healthy. Many pine trees disappeared and it seems that the municipality does not have the authority to clean the woods...we do not know whether it is privately owned. It is a pity that the woods are now thinner and maybe the trees will be cut off to give way to construction of houses.

There is life again there now that Spring has sprung! The trees are now full of buds. We have seen dainty flowers sprouting from the soil and the locals took time to walk their dogs. Although not the typical forest seen in Austria, this area is alive again. I hope the townspeople would gather and volunteer to clean the woods. Perhaps....who knows!

Hace dos días, espontáneamente decidimos visitar a un amigo en la ciudad donde vivió la familia de mi esposo en Baja Austria, que está a unos 17 km de Viena. Fue un viaje refrescante para alejarse de la vida de la ciudad incluso por solo unas horas. Estamos de nuevo bajo bloqueo por cuarta vez. Pasando por las enormes tierras agrícolas de Niederösterreich (Baja Austria), nos detuvimos un rato para tomar una foto de las enormes turbinas eólicas esparcidas por toda la zona. Es una lástima que los bosques ahora sean más delgados y tal vez se corten los árboles para dar paso a la construcción de viviendas.
¡Hay vida nuevamente allí ahora que ha llegado la primavera! Los árboles ahora están llenos de cogollos. Hemos visto delicadas flores brotar del suelo y los lugareños se tomaron el tiempo para pasear a sus perros. Aunque no es el bosque típico que se ve en Austria, esta área está viva nuevamente. Espero que los habitantes del pueblo se reúnan y se ofrezcan como voluntarios para limpiar el bosque. Quizás ... ¡quién sabe!
