I had a real great experience playing the game Omikron The Nomad Soul back in 1999 when I got my first good computer! The game was a little rudimentary and buggy, still I ended up playing through all 3 discs! The new covid variant in Africa is called Omicron, it reminded me of the game Omikron!
This game helped me through that part of life sort of. Something about the music in the game by David Bowie and he is also in the game, helping with alienation. I forget the exact plot, though what made it cool is the part of the story where your character becomes the next person that touches you after you die. That's the nomad soul part, it's almost like a soul parasite where you better not touch this dead or I will become you! I could relate to the game 'cause you feel all alone in an alienating futuristic city but you have David Bowie in some kind of computer form to help you out and also play David Bowie music to you in bars
I did finish the game back in the day. I haven't played it since. I still have the 3 discs. It's something from the past that I still have. So no David Bowie didn't predict the Omicron variant, though I felt when I played the game I could look back on it a long time after and connect it with survival instinct dealing with corrupt technocracy of today. Now I'm thinking did the game predict the future or did the media rip off the video game? Perhaps both
That will be a fine project for tomorrow. Go see what this word omikron actually means. I found out later that David Bowie made an album coinciding with the album called Hours. I'm not even a huge fan but I dug the soundtrack at the time and learned how to play a couple of the songs. Perhaps I will try this game again for the kick of it.
