DCROPS: TIPS for Begginers + My DCROPS Fall Strategy
Today I want to share my progress inside the Dcrops game and I want to try to help new players with tips and showing my buying and investing strategy on Dcrops.
Dcrops (https://www.dcrops.com/) is a blockchain based farming game, it is an easy to play game and it is an Alpha version game so some features have been announced but not yet implemented (Quests).
In the Dcrops game I play the role of a farmer and the goal of the game is to produce the most agricultural products using soil cards and seed cards (the NFTs of the game).
In the Dcrops game, time is an important element and is marked by the seasons, which are the same as in the real world (Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter) but last only 15 days.
The current season in the Dcrops game right now is Autumn which started only 1 day ago and will end in 14 days and 6 hours.
In the previous season (summer) I got a reward of 2188 CROP tokens.
To get this reward I used a total of 33 seed cards (image below).
In the Dcrops game, I'm still in the investment phase so I decided to use the reward I got over the summer to buy a pack of cards.
To buy a pack of cards, you must first transfer CROP tokens to the Hive Engine wallet (https://hive-engine.com/) and then you can buy packs of cards from the SHOP section of the Dcrops website.
Each pack contains 5 cards and in each card pack at least one card is of rare type or higher.
Let's see what I found in the card pack right now.
I could have been luckier but I'm happy because I found 3 rare cards and 2 common cards.
The Cauliflower and Wheat cards are seed cards that I can't use in the current season while the Carrot card and the two Pumpkin cards are cards that can be used in the current season and so they are cards that will be added to the seed cards I have already planted in my plots on the first day of the autumn season.
Until now and in all the seasons of the game of Dcrops I have invested in the purchase of seed cards to be able to use all the plots I own.
I have set a limit to my investment on Dcrops: 100 HIVE.
So far I have invested a total of 70.83 HIVE.
The investment of 70.83 HIVE has allowed me to have a card collection consisting of a total of 140 NFT from the game of Dcrops.
I have a total of 17 Land cards:
- 3 Awesome Land (3 plots)
- 4 Fertile Land (2 plots)
- 10 Average Farmland (1 plots)
I have a total of 123 seed cards:
- 44 seed cards usable in the winter season.
- 33 seed cards that can be used in the spring season.
- 34 seed cards that can be used in the summer season.
- 12 seed cards that can be used in the current season, the fall season.
My Land cards allow me to plant a total of 27 seed cards at once, so I only have 12 plots occupied and 15 plots free this early in the season.
I have decided to go back to the Dcrops marketplace to purchase more seed cards.
There are 5 seed cards that can be used in the fall season and therefore I have 5 possibilities to buy them.
Raspberry card
The most expensive card is obviously the legendary Raspberry card which has a special ability: it has no cooldown period and can be used continuously throughout the fall season.
The Raspberry card produces 4 agricultural products every three days whose selling price is 7 Share points per product.
Because the season lasts 15 days, this card can be used 4 times and allows you to get a minimum of 28 Share points every three days for a minimum seasonal total of 112 Share points.
A very good card that however has one big flaw: the very high purchase price.
There are only 6 Raspberry cards for sale on the Dcrops marketplace and the lowest price is 19 SWAP.HIVE.
Beetroot card
The Beetroot card is an epic card and has the special ability to increase the probability of collecting multiple products by +25%.
The Beetroot card has a cooldown period that does not allow you to use it multiple times during the fall season.
It produces 5 agricultural products every 10 days whose selling price is 14 Share points per individual product.
This card allows you to get a minimum seasonal amount of 70 Share points.
It costs about 1/3 less than the legendary Raspberry card: 6.7 SWAP.HIVE.
Pumpkin card
The Pumpkin card is the only rare card that can be used during the fall season. I found two such cards inside the card pack I opened today.
It has no special abilities and has a production time of 12 days.
After 12 days of cultivation it produces 1 agricultural product only which has a selling price of 24 Share points.
The Pumpkin card has a market price of 1.85 SWAP.HIVE.
Carrot card
The Carrot card is one of two common cards that can be used during the fall season.
The Carrot card produces 1 agricultural product in 7 days, and since the season lasts 15 days in a single plot, a maximum of two Carrot cards can be used during the entire fall season.
The product from the Carrot card has a selling price of 14 Share points.
On the Dcrops market there is a single Carrot card at the price of 0.85 SWAP.HIVE and then the price rises to 0.999 SWAP.HIVE.
Garlic card
The last card that can be used during the fall season in the game of Dcrops is the Garlic card.
The Garlic card is a common card and each individual card can only be used once during the season due to the cooldown period.
The Garlic card produces 2 agricultural products in a time of 7 days and since the season lasts 15 days a maximum number of two Garlic cards can be used per available plots during the season.
The product from the Garlic card has a selling price of 7 Share points and each card, producing two products, allows to get a minimum of 14 Share points.
On the Dcrops marketplace, the lowest price is 0.999 SWAP.HIVE.
What cards to buy?
My buying strategy
Since I decided not to exceed a total investment cost in the game of Dcrops of 100 HIVE I have just under 30 HIVE to invest.
To choose which cards to buy I calculated the SHARE POINTS/HIVE ratio for each card.
SHARE POINTS/HIVE Ratio
The SHARE/HIVE POINTS ratio tells me how many Share points I get for each HIVE token spent in the purchase of a seed card.
As you can see the cards that have the best SHARE/HIVE POINTS ratio are the common cards: Carrot and Garlic.
Tips for new Dcrops players
The advice and help that I want to give to a new player who decides to sign up on Dcrops is to calculate the SHARE POINTS/HIVE ratio for each card before making the purchase.
Often the player who approaches a farming game for the first time buys cards looking only at the characteristics of a single card without doing all the necessary calculations.
To show the importance of the Share/HIVE points ratio I will make a simple and practical example.
Let's take as example three possible purchases of a player:
- purchase of a Land card (Average Farmland) + purchase of a Raspberry legendary card.
- purchase of one Land (Average Farmland) card + purchase of two Garlic common cards.
- purchase of 4 Land cards (average Farmland) + purchase of 8 Garlic community cards.
Purchase case 1: Average Farmland + Raspberry
The player who buys one Averange Farmland and one Raspberry card manages to produce 112 Share points in one season and spends a total of 20.13 SWAP.HIVE (using current market prices).
Purchase case 2: Average Farmland + 2 Garlic cards
The player who buys one Average Farmland and two Garlic cards spends a total of 3.11 HIVE and will produce 28 Share points during the fall season.
Looking only at the Share points the player who buys the legendary card Raspberry would seem to be the one who made the best choice because he will get a better ranking but instead he is the player who made the worst choice.
Purchase case 3: 4 Average Farmland cards + 8 Garlic cards
Who buys 1 Average Farmland + Raspberry card spends 20.13 HIVE and produces 112 Share points.
Who buys 4 Average Farmland + 8 Garlic cards spends 12.44 SWAP.HIVE and produces 112 Share points.
The first player spent almost 8 more SWAP.HIVE to produce the same number of Share points (112) as the player who bought 4 Average Farmland and 8 Garlic cards!
This simple example shows how important it is in a farming game to always do the calculations before buying a card and how important in the Dcrops game to calculate the Share Points/HIVE ratio.
My purchases
To fill my 15 free plots I purchased:
- 6 Carrot cards at a price of 0.849 SWAP.HIVE per card (the price dropped slightly at the time of purchase).
- 9 Garlic cards for the price of 0.999 SWAP.HIVE per card.
I have spent a total of 14,085 SWAP.HIVE (5,094+8,991)
Now I have all my plots occupied even if in 7 days I will have to evaluate new purchases because I will have free plots again.
With the purchases I have made today the total cost of my investment grows again and goes up to 84.91 HIVE.
From next season I will have finished the first phase of my investment on Dcrops and I will proceed to the optimization phase of my card collection and I will start planning to reach the break-even point.
After a first investment phase, reaching the break-even point is an important goal and it's part of the strategy I follow in every farming game I decided to play because, even if Dcrops is a game I like, I consider all farming games as investments before considering them as games.
I hope you liked this post and, if you like, follow me to read my future posts and reports on Dcrops ;)
Important Note:
In every kind of investment there is always a risk factor to evaluate and consider.
I am not a financial advisor and my post does not want to be in any way an invitation to invest on Dcrops but it is just the analysis and sharing of my personal investment on Dcrops on July 29, 2021.
My advice is to always invest only what you can afford to lose with a light heart!
