Old School Runescape, which was launched back in 2013 with the purpose of being able to keep playing the original game of 2007 (comparable with WoW classic in the World of Warcraft franchise, has gotten a new record. Recently 157.445 players were playing at simultaneously. This is is the most amount of players the game has ever gotten which where logged in at the same time.
A lot of the current hype has to do with the introduction of Leagues. These form an alternative game mode where players have to start from 0. The purpose of these leagues is climbing the ladder as high as possible. Every league has their own set of unique rules and lets players perform different tasks. With these tasks players can acquire relics, which players can use to obtain buffs. The latest league, Trailblazer, got introduced a month ago and will run until January 2021.
The new league game mode in combination with the game recently being introduced on Steam is making sure the classic game is finding its way in players' hearts once again
I played Rune Scape 4 3 Streams and it was quite fun . It was similar 2 Ultima Online for me .
I remember playing it when I was young but very briefly so it's not really that special for me. But I know some people that used to be hardcore RuneScape players. And a few of them actually went back playing and they say as well that the game is really fun in League mode.
I do like games where you can progress in many different ways like Skyrim and RuneScape. It feels like more freedom to me
