How are you all doing guys? We are into a new Splinterlands season as the new season started couple of days back and I hope you had some nice ones from the chests you opened for the last season.
I was fortunate to get a Legendary Robo-Knight Dragon and few other Epic and Rare cards with close to 2K DEC.

Let's come back to this week's theme monster for SHARE YOUR BATTLE Challenge and it's Enchanted Defender.
Enchanted Defender is a common Reward Edition neutral monster which wasn't among the often used monster because of it's single health, but was certainly used in some rule sets like melee mayhem or super sneak because of it's nice armors.
But, introduction of new rule set Equal Opportunity has made it even more popular as all the monsters in that rule set will try to attack the monsters with lesser life and with thorn ability, Enchanted Defender is a good option to get rid of some monsters from other side.

Stats:

Let's see what this single life monster has in store as for as the stats are concerned.
It has melee attack ranging between 1 to 4 which starts with 1 and increases to 2 from level 3 and to 3 from level 7 which finally reaches an attack of 4 from level 9 of this 10 level monster.
As for as speed is concerned, it has a maximum speed of 2 which starts from level 6.
Armors are the best part of this monster as it starts with 4 armors and increases to 9 by the time it's leveled up to 10.
Life as we discussed, is constant throughout it's 10 levels and remains at 1.

So, here I go with the details of this battle for the Weekly Challenge.
The battle was with MANA cap of 19 with rule sets of Equal Opportunity and Melee Mayhem.
The moment I saw Equal Opportunity rule set, I decided that Enchanted Defender will be the best monster for front position as it has got huge number of armors which will keep it active for some time until there is an attack from a magic monster and I was fortunate that, the opponent's only magic monster Goblin Shaman died before it could attack the Enchanted Defender.
Here is the lineup I used:

Lineup:

1. Enchanted Defender:

Like I said, Equal Opportunity rule set prompted me to go for this at the front and since this battle was also with Melee Mayhem rule set, I felt this monster is good one since it can throw the thorns for the melee attack.

2. Stone Golem:

image.png

This being a Melee Mayhem battle, I used this monster in second position as a back up front monster since it do have armors besides being a monster with shield ability which makes it less vulnerable to the melee and ranged attack.

3. Screeching Vulture:

One of the best monsters for any kind of rule set, this monster gives that balanced attack as it keeps attacking the monster with lowest life besides gaining life for every monster dies on either side.
It's speed of 5 makes it one of the early attackers and I use this in combination with Dragon Jumper which gives the best results and most of the time, this combo attack takes out a monster in each round.

4. Creeping Ooze:

Used this to slow down the speed of the monsters from opponent and also this can attract the monsters to attack it being a low life monster and can help in keeping the other high attack monsters alive.

5. Brownie:

Used this for increasing the speed and also to increase the melee attack because of it's inspire ability.

6. Swamp Thing:

Lastly, used this ranged attack monster which can reduce the life of each of opponent's monsters because of weaken ability.

Opponent used monsters in the order of Lord Arianthus, Cerberus, Flame Monkey, Creeping Ooze, Kobold Miner and Goblin Shaman.

Battle:

Round 1:

Equal Opportunity battles made the Splinterlands battles more interesting and in this battle, opponent lost 4 out of 6 monsters in First round since most of the monsters used were of low life and the Enchanted Defender monster I used being the single life monster, all the opponent's monsters targeted that.
Creeping Ooze was the first to go being single life monster and then, it was the turn of Goblin Shaman with Flame Monkey going out next.
In between, Cerberus attacked Enchanted Defender to get thorns and then, Kobold Miner was the last monster to be removed in this round.

Round 2:

With just Cerberus and Lord A left, Cerberus got removed even before it could attack in this round and Lord A being no attack monster, lost out in the end of this round to give me a rather easy win!!!

Questions and Answers:

Did my strategy work? What will I try differently next time?

My strategy worked in a great way to finish the battle in just 2 rounds and opponent's tactics of using low life monsters in this Equal Opportunity rule set was the main reason for this easy win.
If I have to try it out differently, I could have used another high life monster instead of Enchanted Defender to have a better front monster as Enchanted Defender's single life makes it vulnerable against any magic monster.

Do I like the ENCHANTED DEFENDER? Why or why not?

Frankly speaking, I don't use this monster much as it's single life means there are more chances of it getting removed in one shot against magic attack.
However, when there is *no magic or when I see a Super sneak or Equalizer rule set battles, I give it chance to be in my team as that makes it more stronger and gives it a fair chance to attack or attack back thru thorns.

That's it folks, it was a very short battle for a Weekly Challenge, but I thought that's the best one with Enchanted Defender at the front.

Thanks and have a good week ahead :)
