Marathon on a Sunday Morning

Last Sunday, I joined another fun run with my office mates. This is actually my 2nd time joining but i still cant adjust on how early the start time is. My alarm took off at exactly 3 AM. The sky was still dark and our house was still so quiet. I was tempted to go back to sleep but i thought to myself that if i did go back to sleep, i would surely miss the marathon. So i resisted the urge to sleep again and finally get out of bed.

For breakfast, I made myself a strong brewed coffee, a banana and some almonds to fuel my run.

The run will officially start at 4:45 am. Its now 4:30 am, so i quickly booked a grab car. Thankfully, i arrived just in time and was able to run at the start of the gun shot.

My office mates and i registered only for the 5k mile so we thought it wouldn't be that far. But boy were we wrong. Halfway thru the run, our legs are getting numb. We decided to walk until the finish line and just enjoy the event.

There were drums and loud music in the venue to keep our spirits alive. I am amazed to see everyone full of energy even when the event starts so early. I bet some people here have little to no sleep too.

There were also booths for gym membership, fit bar snacks, Pocari Sweat, cup noodles, and among others that were displayed in the event.

We finally get to the finish line. However, we didn't get any medal, contrary to what i expected, because apparently, medals are only given for 10k finishers and up. I was a little disappointed by this but its alright.

Over all, i had a fun experience. Next time, i want to challenge myself and go for a longer run.
