I remember living with my grandparents when I was little, my grandpa always had this hot chocolate drink after dinner. It is made of our own cacao trees and it goes through a long traditional process of turning it into chocolate balls or what we call "tableya." Then we make a chocolate drink out of those tableya by melting them in boiling water and adding the creamy coconut milk and brown sugar.
The result is a thick and very chocolatey drink that we serve in tiny cups after dinner. We cannot drink much of this when we were young, we will only have about 1/4 of the cup filled because my grandparents think it is very potent and would cause high blood pressure.
We are having it tonight after a long long time and I just miss my grandparents. They have both passed on but I miss them everyday.
Kay sarp sa tag ulan. I miss my grandfather.
