Ethan is on his way finally to take me home.

Thirty minutes later…

I pace around, waiting for Ethan to show up. I know I will miss Connor and will always think of the unexplainable connection we had.

He walks into the room like I had conjured him from my thoughts. I stand straight and stare as he walks toward me.

"Though the time we spent together was brief, I enjoyed your company immensely. I see you love Ethan and I will not come between you too." He says softly.

I shake my head. "It's okay Connor. I admire you because you are not like what people say…"

He interrupts me. "You don't know that because I won't show you that side of me. Here," he gives me his card. "My private cell number is on it. You can always reach me anytime."

"I-I don't know what to say."

"You do not have to say anything. When I need a worthy chess opponent, promise you will be there." He smiles a little.

I chuckle. "I am always up for a chess game with a grandmaster! Thank you. Not just for this, for not hurting me like some other person could have done in your position."

"You are the innocent party here. And I don't hurt women, especially pregnant women."

One of his guards with a rifle chooses that moment to walk in. "CC. Ethan is here."

Connor nods and waves his hand for me to walk ahead of him.

I take a deep breath and exhale as we stand outside the mansion and Ethan drives in. He leaves the car engine running, comes out and walks towards us.

I run into his arms. He hugs me and turns around so his back is facing Connor, shielding me in the event someone attacks.

I glance at Connor one last time. His face was calm, his hands in his pocket. Ethan opens the passenger door and helps me in while he circles the car and drives out of the estate. I am happily free and reunited with my love and father of my baby.

Somewhere in my heart, I'll always remember Connor.
