in blurtespanol •  4 years ago

Greetings dear friends and photography lovers

Today I will show you photographs of a plant that allows me to evoke memories of my childhood. This is the Ixora and here in Venezuela this shrub belonging to the Rubiáceas family is widely used, since it is ideal for creating separations between sectors within the gardens. Also, they are great for creating massifs, which can then be pruned giving them interesting and fun shapes, making our gardens look excellent.

As I told you initially, this plant brings me beautiful memories of my childhood. The reason is that they are found almost everywhere, which is why their inflorescences, whose shades range from white to intense reddish orange, are often the center of many games. For example, it is very common for girls to assault plants, to take their flowers and make colorful necklaces or bracelets. The peculiar shape of the flowers, which, in essence, is a thin hollow tube, with four or five petals at the end, allows you to join the flowers and build beautiful accessories that give beautiful moments of distraction between girls.

This beautiful shrub native to Asia, is known scientifically as Ixora Coccinea. It is a plant that is characterized by being very resistant, which has allowed it today, that its cultivation will be extended, to the tropical regions of North, Central and South America. That is why, in the language, popular of different peoples, it is known by various names, such as Llama de los Bosques, Santa Rita, Rangan, Kheme, Ponna. Because of its similarity, with the floral mallets of Geranium plants, in some places it is commonly known by the name of Jungle Geranium. In the case of Colombia, where, it is the official floral symbol of the department of Norte de Santander, it is known as Coralito. Puerto Rico for its part christened it as the Maltese Cross and in the Dominican Republic it is known as Coral of Mexico.
