Greetings dear friends and photography lovers

Happy and blessed beginning of the month, March is my favorite month, and it cannot be otherwise, since it is the month in which I celebrate life, MY BIRTHDAY. But well, the intention is not to tell them about my birthday, although I tell them that there are only 10 days left, hahaha. What I want to share today, is what from my point of view is one of the most beautiful and attractive bushes I know.

In the scientific field this beautiful bush is known as Bougainvillea, this is the name by which this group of plants is generically named, which so far covers 35 described species, of which 18 have already been accepted. This name is owed to Philibert Commerson, who gave it in honor of the French explorer and sailor, Louis Antoine de Bougainville, who made the European people known, this plant of Brazilian origin and that at least in Spain is popularly called bougainvillea.

This genus of flowers, belonging to the Nyctaginaceae family and native to the humid tropical forests of South America, at least, here in Venezuela, as in Puerto Rico, Panama, the Dominican Republic and Cuba, is known in a way popular with the name of Trinitaria. In the case of the peoples of Guatemala, Ecuador, Peru and Chile Bugambilia, it is the common name with which it is identified. For its part, Mexico baptized it with the name of Camelia, however in Paraguay, Argentina, Bolivia and Uruguay, it is popularly known as Briza and Santa Rita.

This vine type vine, has sharp spikes and can reach a height between 1 and 12 meters. It is characterized, for being a very strong plant and growing in any terrain, but what must always be taken into account, so that it has a correct development, is that the more sun receives much better. Moreover, if it has one of these plants and has not yet flowered, run and if possible, place it in full sun, because that is surely the reason. Another detail that must be taken into account is that the substrate must have good drainage, since the accumulated water damages its roots.

A very curious detail about this plant and that some time ago I learned, while researching another plant that shares this peculiarity, and of which I already told you in another publication, the Crown of Christ, is what we normally identify as Flowers are not such a thing. What most people, perhaps because of their bright and colorful colors, mistakenly confuse with the inflorescence of this shrub, is nothing more than a kind of leaf, called Bracts whose main function, is to protect small and delicate inflorescences In this case, the Bracts of this plant can usually be seen in vibrant colors such as magenta, yellow, pink, purple, red, orange, and also a white with greenish visas. Now the real flowers, are very small and delicate as I said, and emerge from the Bracts in groups of 3. They are characterized by being hermaphroditic and have a tubular shape, usually found in white.

For now, I say goodbye to another opportunity, wishing you from the heart that your life is full of lots of light, and remember if we do not take a moment of our day, to observe the world around us, beautiful and wonderful miracles of nature will be manifested to us.
