Mientras esto ocurría, en GB01, la fuerza militar era parcialmente retirada y reenviada a BN34, desde donde, de ser necesaria, se prepararía una incursión al cúmulo de Hércules o CG0008, a la vez que los especialistas inus, reconfiguraban las frecuencias de los escudos y lo cañones de plasma, para hacerlos efectivos, ante las naves alienígenas.
Cuatro semanas después de suspendida, la reunión del Parlamento, se reanudó, esta vez, la delegación de Perséfone y su componente militar, darían una exposición de los resultados de la investigación realizada en Balder.
Como ya había sido explicado por Petersen, las criaturas tenían una bioquímica basada en el boro, obviamente su morfología difería mucho de lo conocido, anatómicamente tenían entre un metro cincuenta y uno setenta de altura, poseían una simetría tetraradial, y al igual que los insectos su cuerpo estaba cubierto por un grueso exoesqueleto, y cuatro extremidades en cada uno de sus cuatro planos de simetría, dos de las cuales eran largas alas rígidas, formadas por una superficie cerosa plana, ligeramente flexible y traslúcida.
Como todas las criaturas de simetría radial, no poseían un rostro diferenciado y la disección de uno de los trece cadáveres que se encontraron en Balder, mostró que poseían un sistema nervioso rudimentario, por lo que se pensó que muy probablemente tenían algún tipo de jerarquía, similar a la de los insectos eusociales, y los que restos que fueron hallados correspondían a algún tipo de obreros o guerreros, cuyas acciones serían coordinadas por alguna forma más evolucionada de estas criaturas.
Mientras el informe proseguía, el almirante Almeida recibió una notificación desde la división científica de GB01, luego de ausentarse de la reunión por algunos minutos, para atender a la llamada de su jefe de investigación forense, regresó a la sala solicitando un derecho de palabra urgente.
―Por favor, pido disculpas, por interrumpir, pero tengo una conexión con el doctor William Sequeira, jefe de la división de ciencia forense de GB01 y quisiera que él les trasmitiera la información que acaba de darme a mi ―dijo Almeida a la asamblea.
―Un saludo a todos… ―dijo Sequeira, con voz entre cortada, posiblemente cohibido por la situación ―. No esperaba tener que dirigirme al Parlamento en pleno.
―Por favor transmita la información doctor Sequeira ―dijo Almeida bruscamente.
―Disculpe almirante …―continuó Sequeira, mostrando un par de gráficas del resultado de los análisis espectrales ―. Bueno, el caso es que, cuando llegó a mi la noticia de la presencia de un planeta similar a Quimera poblado también por cristalodermos, se me ocurrió reanalizar las muestras que fueron tomadas de una nave alienígena, que fue alcanzada por las armas de nuestras fragatas, hace más de ochocientos años, y resultó que las muestras eran iguales ―dijo Sequeira y luego guardo silencio, como esperando alguna respuesta de la sala.
―Iguales a qué, Sequeira ―dijo Almeida.
―A los cristalodermos, señor, las naves parecen estar echas del mismo material que los cristalodermos ―respondió Sequeira.

―Creo que no es exactamente así, señor ―Sequeira tomo una pausa ―. Creo que las naves son hechas de los cristalodermos, la estructura cristalina, tiene las mismas formas modulares que conforman a estos seres, de alguna forma han usado a los cristalodermos como materia prima para sus naves, y más aún creo que los cristales están aún energizados.
―¿Qué quiere decir eso? ―volvió a interrumpir Almeida.
―Que creo que siguen vivos, el casco de las naves está fabricado con material extraído de los cristalodermos y el material aún sigue vivo.
