i've been keeping an eye on some of the developements over on SIA (certainly pick up some siacoin as a little bag and sit on it for a year or two) and aside from some of the strides in video hosting (able to use plex with the FUSE framework) and live streaming it appears there is a bunch of 'decentralized blogging' tools starting to pop up.
I think blurt could learn a thing or two here in terms of how people are starting to use video promotion on youtube to get the message out there for all the things that are getting built weekly. It certainly raises interest in their blockchain and platform.
Also i think there is some great crossovers here. I believe that we are already looking at storing images in IPFS and also that native video is on the way, that would be awesome to have it posted on sia too.
I'd love to have the ability to run a PLEX server connected to my SIA storage and pull in all my blurt subscriptions for people who have created a video on the platform -- you could even sort it into a playlist and just have videos playing on a screen next to you all day.
I think somewhere in all of that is the killer app to abstract people away from the notion of 'where' the files are, most people don't care about centralized or decentralized so we need applications that look like the ones they already use on their apple tv, roku or whatever box they use for media playback from the web.
