ARM bought by NVIDIA for 40 Billion Dollars & Oracle Wins Bid for TikTok in U.S

Kinda wild things happening right now in technology.

Such an interesting move that ARM sold to NVIDIA, I’m not sure who else out there was in the running to buy it out but this a big deal with the uk chip maker, it’s certainly an interesting power play environment now for the worlds finest to play in — especially with apple going out on it’s own to make it’s own silicon.

Chipmaker Nvidia has agreed to buy Arm Holdings, a designer of chips for mobile phones, from SoftBank in a deal worth $40 billion, the companies announced Sunday. The deal will include $21.5 billion in Nvidia stock and $12 billion in cash, including $2 billion payable at signing

Guessing that SoftBank needed to pull a bit of money back in after having big losses elsewhere, kinda interesting to see where NVIDIA take things now, could for instance do we see a nvidia arm styled raspberry pi clone that could be the most affordable micro desktop out there on the market?

Whatever happens now it’s another silicon arms race with new silicon out from Nvidia that gamers will no doubt drops lots of money (as well as people mining crypto) and it will be an interesting year ahead with a very buoyant Nvidia with plenty of money in the war chest with lots of gamers and users at home getting into live streaming and spending more time in front of their computers.

With apple switching their whole architecture to ARM this is going to be an interesting movement in the marketplace as nvidia wants to see what apple do next, nvidia has already been there in the background watching how the market adapts and it’s smart to buy the computer that currently has the best per watt pricing on their cpu designs.

With nvidia sheer power, engineering team and the IP of arm holdings in it’s back pocket the door is open for some really interesting product crossovers from companies wanting to be digital relevant for the masses at the right pricing point.

Another big story of the moment is that after all the back and forth of wanting to shut tiktok down it appears that oracle has won the bid to run tiktok in the US, makes a lot of sense because oracle is kinda in the back pocket with the trump campaign and this gives the US government more leverage over the data and media hosting on the planet from the american side, I expect this battle to long continue however well after acquire.

Both NVIDIA and ORACLE have so much cash I’m sure this was a tiny drop in the ocean so they could maintain their relevancy in their niche industries — oracle get’s to keep their hand in and flex their new cloud technology and nvidia get to keep building their silicon empire which is hitting max density and needs to look at that price per watt to keep competitive in the very near future.

We are going ARM baby!

Let’s be honest, we never saw MICROSOFT hosting tiktok in the US, that’s like someone buying Minecraft and. . . oh wait. ..

p.s — Nvidia’s $40 billion Arm bet all about data centers, edge computing, AI | ZDNet hmm, didn’t even consider this but makes sense from a security and costings perspective scaling up way past where we are currently.
