Hello Blurters,
How are you guys doing? I guess you are all cool and doing fine? I was bored at home so I decided to a walk to the next street not far for OK my domicile. During my walk, I saw something very rare, a man using local made machine to make building blocks. The man is a middle age man with a moderate height, I guess that is his daily job, I mean he is doing it for a living. I moved closer to him and I guess what I was fully accommodated by this man, he taught me everything and put me through some steps and how he made the stuffs.
TOOLS AND INSTRUMENTS USED
SHOVEL
THE LOCAL MADE MACHINE
SHARP SAND
DANGOTE CEMENT
WATER
SMALL PLANK
Here is the sharp sound and the cement......
- The process of making the moulding the blocks with locally made machine is as easy as the snapping I am doing but common its very tedious.
When I interrogated him about quality of his production, he told me a bag of cement should mould at least 43 blocks of size 6 because we also have size 9 but the man is focusing on molding size 6.
HERE IS THE PROCESS
- First thing he will do is measure the sharp sand that will be accurate with one bag of cement. Then mixed with water, not too much water then get his local machine ready
- After he has mixed the cement and sharp sand with water, he use his shovel to pack the particles into the local made machine until its full more than the brim.
- Here he is packing the mixed particles with shovel into the local made machine...
- Then he will carry out the next activity by lifting up the local machine with mixed particles inside filled then hit the bottom on the ground
- Furthermore, he will now use the small straight plank to smoothen the surface of the local engine while some particles fall on the ground.
- After he has done that, he will now carry it to where he is arranging it one after the other by removing the local machine carefully from the already moulded blocks.
- That is how he will engage in the process till he will make like 42 to 44 blocks at most. So within 10hours of his working hours he told me he always produce like 4 to 5 bags depending on his strength for that day. If you do the mathematics, at least he produce like up to 230 to 240 blocks within 10hours. So that means he produces 44blocks with on bag within 2hours. Also, took my time to ask him about the difference between the local made blocks and ones produced by industries. He said the local made blocks is more stronger than the ones industries produced. Meanwhile, I also asked about how he is being remunerated he said per day he is paid #3000 Nigerian money equivalent to like 12 dollars I guess.
- Finally, I asked about how convenient he is his with the job, he told me that though it is stressful but better than doing nothing or commiting atrocities around the premises. Such an accommodating man.
