Most people of the present time are accustomed to blue light. But what many people don't know is that this light on a smartphone, tablet or laptop is very harmful for the eyes. According to a new study, this can lead to age-related macular degeneration.
According to research by the University of Toledo, Ohio, USA, blue light acts on the retina to produce toxic chemicals in photoreceptor cells. The disease (Kular degeneration) that occurs in it is incurable. As a result, from the age of 50 to 60 years on average, the patient's vision decreases significantly. The disease kills the photoreceptor cells in the retina, which are used to send signals to the brain after detecting light.
The research report further states that we are constantly seeing blue light, and the cornea and lens of the eye cannot even stop or reflect it. It is no secret that blue light is damaging our eyesight by damaging the retina of the eye.
Meanwhile, a report in the journal Scientific Reports said that after giving blue light to various cells in the body, including cancer cells, heart cells and neurons, the researchers found that these also died as a result of matching retinal toxicity. Retinal without blue light or blue light without retinal has no effect on any cell.
