Cryptocurrency tip; how to avoid online scam

in blurtech •  2 years ago

It seems some online hacks/scams are inevitably beyond users' control with Solana's recent attack on users' wallets leading to the loss of millions worth of funds, such kind of attacks are due to network security bridge on protocol these kinds of attacks though are claimed to affect inactive users that have not interacting with their wallets for several months, it's quite known that dark web users and hackers will always stop at nothing until they steal as much crypto from users pocket. We can also see an increase in scam activity taking telegram as an example it's a haven where most scammers perpetrate their malicious scam schemes a lot of users are been ripped of their hard-earned money from impersonators who always claim to be investors attached to different blockchains-called companies all am getting at here is most victims are been scammed on daily basis and there is little done to track down these bad importers.

A good start is to acquaint oneself with useful information on how to avoid these pitfalls, it's understandable that for one to get this information they need to interact with other people online one way I've tried to avoid scams on online platforms is if you get dm first by a group/individual claiming to provide help or investment opportunities they are likely to be scammers because real group admins never dm first. That's rule number one I've always kept in mind while dealing with online users.

Here I will share some simple tips one can use to avoid online scams.

Impersonators

Both on telegram and Twitter there are a lot of people claiming to be someone else either it's an unauthorized group claiming to be representative of some sort of reputable blockchain investment company.

They can always message you on some random social platform asking for your wallet phrase keys or present some lucrative investment.

Best way to avoid such kinds of people is by not starting a conversation with them and if possible reporting such an account/group immediately always is best, always verify information from any investment platform on their verified page on social platforms.

Phishing

This process requires a victim to click on a malicious link sent from hackers asking you to reset your password or provide your private keys interacting with such a link can ruin ones saving.

Avoiding this requires one to always double-check any website before they can trust their login detail on any sent link for example if you are investing in a platform with this address investing.com a phishing link might look like this Investing.com a change in letter I it can't be easily detected by investors once a victim falls for it they can lose their money.

Best way is to always verify a website before inserting your login data. this will minimize users getting into fake websites.

Final thought

There are different and hundreds of ways people get scammed online I guess avoiding those two pitfalls can go a long way to protect your hard-earned investment from falling into wrong hands as I've mentioned there are attacks one can't easily control and there are some within our range, in addition, you can make personal research at your convenience on how to avoid some online scam.
