You think on your own.You design it. You analyse it. You find optimal design. You get it manufactured. You assemble it. Finally it rolls and you can't imagine the happiness. I think everyone of you felt the same way when you did some project in your school or college.
So here I present to you my team "Team Roadrunner-We fly low" , the Formula SAE team of my college.
Years passed and I always wanted to pursue my career in Auto industry. Now I'm working with Market leader in India Maruti Suzuki India LTD. l look after dealer operations and responsible for providing technical and diagnostic support, handling customer complaints, expansion of service network and lot of analysis and feedback capturing in field. Challenging right??
Since second year of my engineering, I started working in the team. With very few members at that point of time it was challenging to start from scratch. The engineering problems, hardtimes in getting finances , time deadlines always kept us on our toes and made us what we are today. My captain is working for one of the biggest IT firms in India and Vice Captain is doing his masters in Vehicle dynamics from one of the top 3 colleges of Automobile engineering of the world. I got lot of hands on experience while working in team and got to see the fruits of collective team efforts in person before joining an industry.
Eventhough I have been working with team, i failed to get a job in all automobile companies in the final year. I could not clear written testes, group discussions and in some companies I got rejected in the final interview round. I have offers from other companies but still that craving for working in Auto industry is still there. And then suddenly there was a notification from MSIL in the summers for the role of Service Business Manager and candidates were asked to visit Delhi for tests and interview. It was on a short notice and there were no tickets available. Flight tickets were not affordable. So i have decided to travel in train in general compartment. There were no seats available and i have to stand 27 hours before reaching Delhi. I was so exhausted and interview was on next day.
I strongly believe if you put in 100% efforts, you get what you deserve. May be little late but definitely you will win. I got through the interview and it has been wonderful journey so far. Little stressful and lot of challenges but definitely it was a great learning.
I always keep sharing my life mantra. There are no shortcuts. One has to follow a definite path to achieve goals. It needs patience and enthusiasm. I believe in slow and steady wins!!
A brief of SAE INTERNATIONAL-FORMULA STUDENT :-
SAE stands for society of automotive engineers.
SAE is a non profitable engineering and scientific society which involves it's resources to support and encourage the development of skills related to science, technology, engineering and mathematics. SAE also has a collegiate design series which gives opportunity for students to go beyond text book theory and involve in the process of designing and manufacturing.
SAE has many engineering design projects like
1)Formula SAE
2)BAJA SAE
3)ECOKART
These are the projects that I'm familiar with. There are many other projects all across the world.
Formula SAE::
The Formula SAE competition is for SAE student members to conceive, design, fabricate, and compete with small formula-style racing cars.Restrictions are imposed on so that the knowledge, creativity, and imagination of the students are challenged. The end result is a great experience for young engineers in a meaningful engineering project as well as the opportunity of working in a dedicated team effort.
Team comprises of different subsystems who work collectively to build race car. Our sub systems include
1)Electronics
2)Power train
3)Drivetrain
4)vehicle Dynamics
5)Brakes
6)Chassis
7)PR and Media
Each subsystem consists of 4-5 members and collectively we were around 25 by the time we completed our project.
Keep sharing your passions and spread love. I'm looking forward for all of your success stories!!
Great post my friend :)
